ASU basketball loses freshman forward Kimani Lawrence for 4-6 weeks

Arizona State basketball will be without a key player throughout the non-conference season, limiting coach Bobby Hurley’s bench.

Kimani Lawrence on Monday had surgery to repair a stress fracture in his left foot, an injury that likely will keep the freshman forward out 4-6 weeks. A Top 100 high school recruit, the 6-foot-7 Lawrence was expected to start this season.

“It’s likely to keep him out, ball park is somewhere around Christmas, based on the time frame we’ve been given right now, but there’s no set date on his return,” Hurley said Monday. “It’s very encouraging that it looks like that we would, in a good-case scenario, have Kimani back for the entire Pac-12 (season).
