BERKELEY, Calif. – Shannon Evans lately has fallen into a habit of starting slow. The Arizona State senior guard’s resume says he’s one of the Pac-12’s more explosive guards, but lately he hasn’t showed as much until the second half.
For now the Sun Devils will live with it.
With struggling California charging, Evans hit two key second-half 3-pointers to help lift No. 16 ASU to an 81-73, had-to-have-it win at Haas Pavilion on Saturday. The Sun Devils improved to 15-4 and 3-4 in the Pac-12.
Cal dropped to 7-13 and 1-6.
ASU led by as many as 16 in the first half.
