TUCSON – Arizona State survived its foul trouble. State rival Arizona did not. Not surprisingly, it was the Sun Devils walking away with a hard-fought, 72-64 victory Saturday in front of 14,291 at McKale Center in the regular-season finale for both teams.
ASU (21-9, 12-6) heads into next week's Pac-12 Tournament at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas as the No. 2 seed and also furthered its cause for an at-large bid should the Sun Devils not win the conference tournament. The Sun Devils will face the winner of the first-round matchup between Stanford and UCLA on Thursday.
Arizona (17-14, 8-10) finishes the regular season in ninth place and will have to win the tournament to advance to the NCAA Tournament.
