Arizona State's nonconference men's basketball schedule is close to getting a significant upgrade.
ASU officials are about to finalize a deal with Kentucky to play the Wildcats at Rupp Arena next season. The two schools then would play at a neutral site during the 2016-17 season, most likely at the Atlantis Resort in the Bahamas.
"It was presented to us, and it still needs final approval and the contracts getting signed, but we're optimistic it will happen," ASU coach Bobby Hurley said Tuesday from the Pac-12 spring meetings at the Arizona Biltmore. "It's something we've discussed with the administration to play an attractive out-of-conference schedule and challenge ourselves.
