The trip to Las Vegas always included a circled game for everyone’s Sun Devil basketball schedule. The Sun Devils entered halftime with a 15-point lead, but the 15th ranked Bulldogs weren’t going to go down without a fight.
Mississippi State (3-1) tied the game with a little over a minute left in the game after sophomore guard Nick Weatherspoon’s three-pointer put everyone at 65. That wasn’t the most clutch bucket, sophomore forward Kimani Lawrence nailed his three-pointer the following possession. Arizona State (4-0) held on to the lead after that with a pair of free throws from sophomore guard Remy Martin and a put away slam by Lawrence to lock up the 72-67 win on Monday.
