ASU’s hot bat of the day was Drew Swift, as he recorded three hits and three RBIs on Wednesday. San Diego had two players, Tora Otsuka and Max Jung-Goldberg, lead the team with two hits each.
Both teams pulled their starters after one inning, but San Diego seemingly planned to pull their starter while ASU did not. ASU’s Sam Romero was swapped due to a rough second inning performance, but coach Tracy Smith was satisfied with the performances of his relievers.
“I think for the situations, those guys had to shut it down,” Smith said. “Chaz (Montoya) coming in there and getting a big strike out and Brady (Corrigan) doing the same thing, that was a positive.
