A four-run eighth inning lifted California to a series clinching, 8-6 victory.
A truncated Arizona State bullpen fell apart late against California for the second time in two days, this time allowing four runs in the bottom of the eighth inning en route to an 8-6 loss. The defeat marked just the second series loss of the season for the Sun Devils.
Eager to put last night's one-run loss to bed, the maroon and gold drew first blood in the opening frame on an RBI single to the gap in left center by David Greer. Joey Bielek, however, stranded another run 90 feet from home with a three pitch strikeout to end the threat, and the Golden Bears were able to leave the field with a bit of momentum.
