Arizona State baseball rallied in the ninth inning for a walk off 7-6 win over Fairfield in its NCAA regional opener Friday night in Austin, Texas.
With one out in the ninth, Joe Lampe and pinch hitter Kai Murphy singled, Drew Swift walked on four pitches and pinch hitter Blake Pivaroff was hit with the bases loaded, scoring Lampe with the tying run.
Sean McLain then singled to right, scoring Murphy with the winning run.
No. 2 regional seed ASU (32-20) advanced to a winner’s bracket game at 4 p.m. Saturday against No. 2 national/No. 1 regional seed Texas (43-15).
