With the 70th overall pick in the second round of the 2019 MLB Draft, the Kansas City Royals took a Sun Devil.
Junior pitcher Alec Marsh was taken off the board as a Royal. Marsh, a Pac-12 First Team Selection, posted a 3.17 ERA with 92 strikeouts in 2019. He was fifth in the conference in strikeouts, and third in wins.
The Milwaukee, Wisconsin native made significant strides after his first two years as a Sun Devil, and he became ASU’s Friday night ace this season.
His most notable performance came against a top-25 opponent, when Marsh shut down Oregon State by heaving a complete game, three-hit gem to defeat the Beavers.
