Jason Kelly is joining Arizona State baseball as pitching coach, replacing Mike Cather, who is not returning after two seasons.
Kelly is coming to ASU from Washington, where he has been pitching coach since 2012 and associate head coach since 2014. He also was the Huskies’ recruiting coordinator.
Kelly's hiring Thursday comes just four days after ASU's season ended with a 1-2 showing at the Baton Rouge regional. The Sun Devils were 38-19, but pitching depth remains an issue five years into Tracy Smith's tenure as head coach.
ASU's ERA this season was 4.
