In a critical game for its pride and postseason prospects, Arizona State women’s basketball dominated Arizona 67-54 Sunday at Wells Fargo Arena.
ASU led wire to wire and by as many as 22 points, avenging a 62-58 loss in Tucson on Friday and preventing a Wildcats rivalry sweep for the first time since 2000. ASU has won 22 of the last 25 games in the series.
The Sun Devils improved to 17-10, 8-8 Pac-12, moving back into a fifth-place tie with Oregon with two regular-season games remaining. UA fell to 13-14, 4-12.
ASU extended a 12-point halftime lead to 51-32 at the end of the third quarter, leaving no doubt about a home victory on a day when the 2006-07 NCAA Elite Eight team celebrated its 10-year anniversary.
