Arizona State upsets No. 16 Oregon to stay near top of Pac-12

It's crowded atop the Pac-12 standings but it was Arizona State emerging with a 77-72 win over No. 16 Oregon in a battle of top contenders Thursday at Desert Financial Arena.

It marked the sixth straight win and eighth in the last nine outings for the Sun Devils (18-8, 9-4), who began the night a half game out of first place.

Alonzo Verge tallied a team-high 26 points while Rob Edwards had 24 points for ASU. Remy Martin had 11 points and four assists while Romello White had a team high 11 rebounds.

Oregon senior point guard Payton Pritchard, the leading contender for conference player of the year honors, fouled out with 2:15 to play and ASU ahead 66-61.
