Arizona State freshman arrested on felony BB gun charge

Arizona State freshman defensive tackle George Lea has been suspended from the team following a Monday arrest for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, first degree burglary and false imprisonment. Chris Karpman of Scout.com reported Lea’s arrest.

Allegedly, Lea used a BB gun to intimidate a teammate, among other things.

The university released a statement on the matter.

“Freshman football player George Lea has been indefinitely suspended from the Arizona State University football program after an incident that occurred Monday night on the Tempe campus involving a BB gun. ASU football players are held to high standards and are expected to exercise good discipline and judgment on and off the field.
