Arizona State football will not train at Camp Tontozona for a second consecutive year due to COVID-19 precautions.
Ray Anderson, ASU Vice President for Athletics, said it still is too risky for the Sun Devils to spend a week in August in close quarters at the camp outside Payson. A day trip is possible, though, to tap into roots that go back to former coach Frank Kush realizing its potential as a cooler training camp option in the late 1950s.
ASU was unable to use Camp Tontozona in 2018 due to a delay in renovations and also in 2020 due to the pandemic.
