Arizona State basketball survives Prairie View A&M in ragged effort

There are ugly wins and then the uglier wins. For the Arizona State Sun Devils the wins are coming, but the level of play isn't doing much to inspire a lot of confidence moving forward with tougher opponents ahead.

The Sun Devils turned back visiting Prairie View A&M 88-79 in non-conference play at Desert Financial Arena Wednesday night. Play was ragged from the opening tip off. The contest took two hours, 30 minutes and featured 84 free throws, 59 personal fouls and 33 turnovers.

ASU (7-2) had 51 free throws, equaling their number of field goal attempts.
