At a critical moment in its season Sunday, Arizona State basketball flinched, giving up 54 points in the second half of a 91-83 loss to Washington State.
For teams with almost identical records, ASU badly needed a win at home but could not play well enough on either end to secure its first Pac-12 weekend sweep in the two-year Bobby Hurley era.
"I have to take responsibility when my team doesn't play well," Hurley said. His starters are "getting great individual success, but it's got to translate into making plays in key parts of games so we have a chance to win.
