TEMPE, Ariz. — The No. 9 Sun Devil Wrestling team will start the new year playing host to No. 5 Michigan Saturday, Jan. 5 at 8 pm MT. Here are four things to know prior to the dual:
1. Two of the top-5 wrestlers at 174 lbs. will face in the dual in #3 Myles Amine (Michigan) and #2 Zahid Valencia (ASU). Valencia is 5-0 all-time vs. Amine with three matches in the NCAA Tournament (two in 2017, one in 2018), one at the 2016 Cliff Keen Las Vegas Invitational and one in a dual at Michigan last season.
