Zack Greinke will not make his next scheduled start, but the Diamondbacks are hoping their ace right-hander not only will be able to avoid a stint on the disabled list, but that he’ll be back in time to face the first-place San Francisco Giants next weekend in San Francisco.
Greinke left his start on Tuesday after two innings with tightness in his left oblique, and his status has been uncertain ever since. He has yet to throw a baseball, but he told the club he was feeling markedly better, manager Chip Hale said.
“He’s adamant he feels a lot better today than he did Wednesday when he left,” Hale said on Friday.
