Right-hander Yoan Lopez still doesn’t want to talk about what happened last summer. Nor, it seems, does anyone associated with the Diamondbacks. Not specifically, at least. They use the phrase “personal reasons,” but offer nothing more to explain his unauthorized departure from his Double-A team last July.
About all that Lopez will say is that he made a mistake, and that he wants his second go-round in big-league camp to serve as a fresh start with the organization that spent more than $16 million to sign him out of Cuba last year.
“I grew up a lot,” Lopez said, speaking through interpreter Eddie Oropesa.
