CHICAGO – The wind howled through Wrigley Field strong enough to blow a television monitor out of the Fox Sports Arizona broadcast booth on Friday afternoon. Luckily, no one was hurt in the stands below. The wind wasn’t as forgiving when it came to the Diamondbacks.
With the wind swirling, a Kris Bryant popup in the second inning turned the right side of the Diamondbacks infield into a three-ring circus, opening the door for the Chicago Cubs to score first on a day they cruised to a 5-1 victory.
“This is one of those fields where there’s a distinct home-field advantage when it gets a little bit windy,” Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said.
