Almost every time Torey Lovullo has been asked about Paul Goldschmidt’s struggles at the plate this season, the Diamondbacks manager makes it a point to remind everyone that the team has long been spoiled by the first baseman’s greatness.
Lovullo can say the same thing about his team’s aptitude on defense. It’s been so good this year, it almost feels like a fluke when an infielder butchers a ground ball or someone misplays a fly ball in the outfield.
“Yeah, defensively we’ve been lights out,” Lovullo said before Monday’s series opener against the visiting Milwaukee Brewers.
