The D-backs franchise and their players have been flying below the radar in terms of national attention for a long time. I think the 2001 World Series was likely the last time the team as a whole occupied a significant place in consciousness [I haven’t been able to locate viewing figures for the 2007 NLCS against the Rockies, but I’m guessing they weren’t good] There’s some justification for this, because the team has spent most of the time since then not being very good. Arizona has reached even 85 wins only three times over those 15 seasons, in 2002, 2007 and 2011.
