Walker breaks up Ross' bid for no-hitter

PHOENIX -- Christian Walker broke up Tyson Ross' bid for the first no-hitter in Padres history with a line drive that got over the head of center fielder Franchy Cordero for an RBI double with two outs in the bottom of the eighth inning.

The hit tied the game at 1-1.

On the 127th pitch of the night for Ross, Walker, who was pinch-hitting for reliever Fernando Salas, hit a drive to center. Cordero got a bad read on the ball, which had a 99 percent catch probability based on data from Statcast™.
