MILWAUKEE – Robbie Ray returned from the injured list with an on-brand performance, the offense awoke from its slumber and manager Torey Lovullo’s optimism was renewed for another day. And thus it was a relatively typical day in the Diamondbacks’ bumpy season.
A couple hours before their 5-2, sweep-avoiding win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Sunday, Lovullo compared the past five months to a ride across the desert in a dune buggy. The dips haven’t been all that low, the highs not so high, but the terrain has been anything but smooth.
