Tyler Clippard's injury creates opportunity in Diamondbacks' bullpen

In years past, when Diamondbacks right-hander Tyler Clippard would feel an ache, a pain or anything else unusual with his arm during a spring training outing, he would find the issue had a way of sorting itself out so long as he continued to throw. For the first time, he said, that did not happen during his outing last week in Maryvale.

Clippard was diagnosed with a capsule sprain in his right shoulder and will not throw for six weeks, an injury that likely means the Diamondbacks will be without their newly added veteran reliever for at least the first two months of the season.
