For all the talk about the Diamondbacks’ late-season collapse in the late innings, strong performances by a pair of the club’s young relievers has brought optimism back to the bullpen.
The recent stretch of outings from right-handers Yoan Lopez and Jimmie Sherfy have given reasons for the Diamondbacks to get excited about the future of their relievers.
Both Lopez and Sherfy were called up when rosters expanded in September and neither was particularly sharp when they came up. Since then, however, they’ve both been tasked with getting big outs in big situations. And they've both executed.
Tuesday’s win over the Dodgers was a prime example of the role both pitchers have adopted in the club’s bullpen.
