SAN FRANCISCO – Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo had a quick hook for reliever Archie Bradley on Tuesday night, removing him from the game with two on and two out in the eighth inning against the Giants before Bradley had even given up a run.
Typically, Lovullo has stuck with his pitchers in their particular roles, win or lose, but, along the same lines as how he has begun to alter the way he handles his starting pitchers, Lovullo said Wednesday he is doing the same with his relievers.
“If I sense that it’s not going well … their teammates are going to be there to pick them up,” Lovullo said.
