Ketel Marte’s leadoff homer on Saturday — his first home run of the spring — was an encouraging sign for the Diamondbacks, who are hoping for a bounce back year from their center fielder/second baseman.
But, for manager Torey Lovullo, just as encouraging as the power display has been what he has seen from Marte’s approach this spring.
“I think he looks fantastic with his results,” Lovullo said. “Those are the things that a lot of people see. There’s (slugging). There’s home runs. But he’s getting himself into some good-hitting counts and he is making good decisions on balls in the hitting zone that he is looking for.
