The Diamondbacks placed rookie Jake Lamb on the 15-day disabled list and inserted Cuban slugger Yasmany Tomas in his place at third base in what will be his first career start in the major leagues.
Lamb's injury was announced as a stress reaction in his left foot. It is not yet clear how long he is expected to be out of the lineup. It's also not known how he suffered the injury.
Lamb was out of the lineup on Sunday in San Francisco. Manager Chip Hale explained his absence at the time as "just (wanting) to give him a little rest.
