At the conclusion of today’s walloping from the Twins, the D-Backs will officially have played 81 of their 162 games and reached the official back half of the season - regardless of the arbitrarily determined All-Star break. To put it mildly, the first half of the season has not gone according to plan in almost any semblance. A full three-fifths of the theoretical Opening Day rotation has spent significant time on the IL in Zac Gallen, Merrill Kelly, and Eduardo Rodriguez - the last of whom has yet to throw a single pitch for the club. The offseason acquisitions - Jordan Montgomery, Joc Pederson, and Eugenio Suarez - have been a decidedly mixed bag with Pederson acting as the lone contributor to this point.
