Thursday Tidbits: Christmas Wishlist

The D-Backs’ offseason finally got a jolt on Monday when Mike Hazen shipped off Slade Cecconi and a draft pick to Cleveland in exchange for All-Star first baseman Josh Naylor. He immediately slots into Christian Walker’s role after the latter unfortunately signed his own three-year deal with the Astros. The move definitively addresses one of the biggest holes on the team’s roster while giving up relatively little - although I could easily eat those words in a couple years depending on Cecconi’s continued development. Obviously, it does not address every hole or need the team has at the moment, but I would be very surprised if Hazen stood pat for the rest of the offseason given the contention window the team finds itself in right now.
