Thursday Tidbits: 2024 Draftees

Unlike the NBA and NFL iterations, the MLB Draft requires a healthy dose of patience and forbearance as draftees usually take years - if ever - to appear for the big league team. Additionally, as teams continue to highly covet controllable years for their players, there is still a tightrope to walk between developing a player and maximizing their pre-arbitration time when they are the cheapest. While the Angels have become famous (or infamous depending on your interpretation) for fast-tracking their prospects in recent years, it still takes an average of two to three years for a prospect to reach the big leagues with some caveats for the highest picks.
