Personally, the MLB draft slots into third place on my ranking of individual player moments. In first place, unsurprisingly, is seeing players make their major league debut and/or getting their first big league hit. Second, the behind the scenes video of the player’s triple-A coach informing the player they’re being called up to the big leagues for the first time. And finally the draft selection and the associated hoopla that comes with it including the player’s introduction to the fans. The mix of emotions at play for the draftees and their families never ceases to amaze me as it very likely represents some of the pinnacle moments of pain, sacrifice, and pride.
