As Heisman Trophy winner and former NFL quarterback Tim Tebow headed to the clubhouse after making his Arizona Fall League debut, he worked his way down a line of fans, signing whatever was waved in front of him: well-worn Florida football jerseys, old copies of Sports Illustrated, fresh baseballs destined for eBay and faraway mantles.
Halfway through the line, a man fell, and a woman screamed. “Seizure!”
Security waved fans away. Tebow stayed, a hand draped on the man in the front row.
The man had a brain tumor and had tasted metal. He remembered falling, and then nothing until he woke up to Tebow and a fellow fan praying over him.
