After a long 11-day, 11-game road trip there’s nothing like coming home – and facing the San Diego Padres.
Arizona’s three-game losing streak came to a quick end thanks to a 10-2 victory over the Padres, who have the second-fewest wins in baseball. (Only the Philadelphia Phillies are worse.)
It was 2-0 after one inning, 7-0 after two, and at that point, Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred, who was in town, could and perhaps should have invoked the mercy rule and called off the game right then.
The benefactor of all those runs? Starter Robbie Ray, who turned in another dominating performance.
