Struggling pitchers Archie Bradley, Zack Godley find redemption in Diamondbacks' extra-innings win over Rays

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – The Diamondbacks did not want to use Archie Bradley or Zack Godley in big situations on Wednesday afternoon, did not want to put the game in the hands of perhaps the two pitchers on their staff struggling the most. Circumstances prevented them from adhering to that plan, but, as it happened, it couldn’t have worked out better for the Diamondbacks.

Bradley threw three dominant innings and picked up a win, Godley worked a perfect inning to notch the save and the Diamondbacks escaped Tropicana Field with a 3-2 victory in 13 innings, a win that allowed them to avoid a three-game sweep at the hands of the Tampa Bay Rays.
