After beginning the season in the Diamondbacks’ starting rotation, left-hander Patrick Corbin is ending it pitching out of the bullpen – the demotion yet another example of how the team’s expectations failed to align with reality.
But the change of scenery seems to have accomplished what it was intended to do as Corbin is poised to wrap his season on a scoreless streak that is reminiscent of his previous prowess.
“Obviously, I was upset,” Corbin said. “I understood. I wasn’t pitching very well and wasn’t giving our team a very good chance to win. So it was definitely tough to take and hard to handle, but I just tried to work hard and get better.
