Something occurred Thursday night for the Diamondbacks that hasn’t happened all season. And it was enough to make manager Torey Lovullo pound his chest and shout from the rooftop of Chase Field.
With right fielder Steven Souza Jr. being activated off the disabled list, batting fifth and starting against the San Diego Padres, it marked the first time since spring training that the Diamondbacks had Souza, center fielder A.J. Pollock, first baseman Paul Goldschmidt and third baseman Jake Lamb all in the lineup at the same time.
“I’m very excited about that,” Lovullo said during his pregame news conference.
