Steven Souza Jr. called his home run on Friday night an emotional moment, but he said the look he shot toward the second-deck seats behind home plate at Chase Field was not intended for the Diamondbacks front office.
Souza, who was playing in just his second game since being called up by the Los Angeles Dodgers, said he looked into the stands after crossing the plate because he mistakenly thought his family was sitting there.
“Apparently, the family was in right field,” said Souza, who was with the Diamondbacks in 2018 and 2019. “I didn’t know that.
