Right fielder Steven Souza Jr.’s days with the Diamondbacks ended Monday with the club’s decision to nontender him, thus cutting him loose into free agency. It was an unsatisfying finish to a disappointing, injury-plagued two years in the desert.
"Yeah, I mean, I wish that I could have played," Souza said late Monday night. "But there was really nothing in my control that I did. I did everything that I could to get back on the field.
"Obviously, it sucks to come over to this organization and not play — I mean, not play at all, really.
