James: I give Carroll a few days off, maybe as much as a week. During that time, he’s putting in extra work in the cages and against live pitching (preferably a few different arms/looks) to get a massive jump on fixing the flatness in his swing that he has developed, a problem he himself has already identified. He still might get some PR/PH/Defensive replacement opportunities in that time, but he needs to step back just a bit and see if he can get his head on straight.
If that doesn’t start a new trend upward, I send him down to Reno with a very definitive plan of what he needs to achieve to return.
