Arizona 8, San Francisco 7
The Diamondbacks jumped out to a quick three-run lead in the top of the first in support of Ryne Nelson. They then piled on more runs in both the second and third innings. But then, San Francisco’s pitching finally found some stability and the Diamondbacks’ bullpen had one of “those” nights. Christian Walker (making his return from the IL) had a game-clinching sacrifice fly in the top of the ninth that ended up being the difference in the game that Arizona had once led by as much as six runs. If not for Walker’s sacrifice and Carroll’s speed, the game goes into extras.
