Snake Bytes 9/14: More Free Food

Robbie Ray took 103 pitches to get through five full innings, allowing four runs on six hits and a walk, while also striking out seven. The effort was enough, however, as Matt Koch came in in relief to pitch four scoreless frames while Jean Segura went deep twice, leading an offensive explosion that resulted in eleven runs on the night.

Tuesday night’s seven strikeout performance made Robbie Ray just the fourth Diamondbacks pitcher to reach 200 strikeouts in a season, joining Randy Johnson (5), Curt Schilling (2), and Dan Haren (2). The lefty is starting to make many believe he has the right stuff, if only he can develop a third pitch.
