Patrick Corbin turned in another strong outing, pitching six innings while allowing only two runs and striking out eight. Unfortunately, Hirano, Chafin, and Bradley combined to give up two runs, allowing the Angels to tie the game. It took some ninth inning luck for the Diamondbacks to manufacture a run, scoring without the ball ever leaving the infield of the bat.
After John Ryan Murphy dropped down a bunt hit to put runners at first and second with no one out, A.J. Pollock came to the plate with the opportunity to be a hero.
