Arizona Diamondbacks starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner was stellar in the team’s series finale against the Philadelphia Phillies on Thursday, a 6-2 win resulting in a sweep and a record of 6-1 for the club’s most recent homestand.
Bumgarner pitched eight innings, giving up only three hits and one earned run. He got involved with his bat too, knocking a RBI single in the seventh inning.
For three days, the Diamondbacks played good baseball against a contender. They pitched well. They scratched across runs. They did not shoot themselves in the foot. They completed a sweep of the Philadelphia Phillies with a 6-2 win on Thursday afternoon, and in doing so they continued to distance themselves from the misery of May and June.
