Snake Bytes 7/21 - Gone Streaking

Taylor Widener had a rough start, allowing five earned runs in only 4 23 innings of work. Arizona’s offense picked him up though, hanging an eight-spot on the Bucs in the seventh inning.

VanMeter entered the game in the fifth inning as part of a double switch. In the decisive seventh inning, he swatted himself an RBI triple and a two RBI double. He finished the game a home run short of the cycle, despite playing only half the game.

Arizona’s biggest offensive inning since August of 2020 was enough to lift the Diamondbacks to their third win in a row, making Arizona 12-1 in their last 13 games against the Pirates.
