Snake Bytes 4/8: One - Nil

This was a game that illustrates perfectly why a starting pitcher should not be judged too harshly based on won-loss records. Merrill Kelly went 8 innings and gave up only a single home run that was just barely beyond the reach of Adam Jones in rightfield. The Diamondbacks had difficulty generated offense against a “bullpen” game that featured five pitchers on Boston combining for the shutout. The fifth inning offered an opportunity when Christian Walker led off the inning with a double. An infield bouncer by Nick Ahmed was not enough, Walker was thrown out at home. It seems that a ball off Ahmed’s bat is not the best time to go for home in this series.
