It was a day to forget for Merrill Kelly. The right-hander only lasted 3 2⁄3 innings, surrendering six hits and seven walks along with three earned runs. Reliever Matt Koch came in and finished up the game. He allowed two more walks and two more runs. On the other side of the ball, Kyle Hendricks was dealing, striking out 11 Diamondbacks in his seven innings of work.
Welcome to day games at Wrigley Field. The wind was having its way on Friday, making routine plays more difficult than they had any right being.
