SAN DIEGO – For years, after hammering the Dodgers and Giants pitching staffs, Diamondbacks first baseman Paul Goldschmidt would intone the same caveat about how quickly things can change in baseball, and how just because he was having success one night doesn’t guarantee more success in the future.
His numbers this year against those National League West rivals bear out his point. After years of destroying the Dodgers and Giants, both teams managed to limit Goldschmidt’s production this year, culminating in a 2 for 18 four-game series against the Dodgers over the weekend at Chase Field.
“I don’t say that just to try to be humble or anything,” Goldschmidt said.
