Diamondbacks manager Chip Hale said right-hander Josh Collmenter reported tightness in his right shoulder after his most recent outing, casting doubt on his status for Opening Day.
“Is he going to start the season on the (disabled list)?” Hale said. “That’s a decision we have to make here with him.”
In a way, the injury could be a sort of blessing in disguise for the Diamondbacks. Collmenter has had a miserable spring training, exhibiting diminished velocity, movement and command, so much so that Hale had said in recent days that team executives would have to discuss his place on the roster.
